Hello
I'm Jahura, though most people know me by my home name, Ruby.

I turned 50 last year and decided it was finally time to follow something that had always called to me: floristry. I've spent a lifetime being drawn to nature. It's where I find calm, where I breathe more easily, and where I feel most myself. Flowers have long been part of how I create warmth at home, in arrangements, in tablescaping, in the way a single well-placed bloom can shift the feeling of a room entirely.

Before floristry, my great love was teaching. I spent 17 years as a Social Science teacher, having studied at the London School of Economics and completed my PGCE at the Institute of Education. Teaching was never just a job. Watching young people grow and find their footing was one of the great joys of my life.

My Story
For years, teaching was my purpose. Then came a period of significant health challenges and surgeries that gradually made it impossible to stay in the classroom. Stepping away from something so deeply woven into who I am was one of the hardest things I have ever done. There was real grief in it. Yet somewhere underneath that grief, I knew it was the right decision for my health and my family.

What I didn't know then was that stepping back from one calling would lead me, eventually, to another.

Encouraged by my family and friends to pursue what brought me joy, I enrolled on a course at Capel Manor College in London. From the very first week, something shifted. Tuesdays became the highlight of my week. I was surrounded by people from all walks of life, and there was an unmistakable energy in that room. What I discovered wasn't just a new hobby. It was that working with flowers connects us to something generous and enduring in nature, and that using that connection to elevate everyday spaces, whether the simplest posy or something with real drama and presence, is a deeply meaningful act.

Floristry gave me back something I hadn't realised I had lost: a sense of purpose, creativity, and community. It also brought me full circle. Because now I get to bring together the two things I love most: the art of working with flowers, and the joy of teaching others to do the same.

Come and join me on this journey. Create with flowers, connect with nature, and make something that is entirely your own.

Warm wishes, Jahura (Ruby) x
